Tesla Wall Connector installation
The Tesla Wall Connector is a hardwired Level 2 charger. It is installed on a dedicated 240V circuit by a licensed electrician, who sets its current to match the circuit.
What the installation involves
- A dedicated 240V breaker and wire sized for the current you want. Tesla's installation manual lists the circuit-breaker sizes and matching current settings; your electrician selects them during setup.
- A hardwired connection at the wall (no plug), indoors or outdoors.
- Permit and inspection where your city requires them.
Typical cost
Hardwired Level 2 installs typically cost $1,100–$1,900 for a short run, plus the charger and permit. Long runs or a panel upgrade ($1,500–$5,500) add more.
Outlet instead?
If you prefer to plug in, an electrician can install a NEMA 14-50 outlet ($700–$1,200) for a mobile connector. It usually charges more slowly than a hardwired unit.
