EV charger installation quote checker
Got a quote to install a Level 2 charger? Enter its line items and compare each one with typical prices for your area: installation, wire run, permit, panel work and the charger itself.
Check an EV charger installation quote
Type the prices from your electrician's written quote. Leave blank any line it doesn't list. Nothing you type is sent or saved.
Enter at least one price to compare.
Typical ranges come from published price sources (listed below), adjusted for local electrician wages. A price outside the range can be fair for your home. Ask the electrician what it includes.
How the quote checker works
Each line is compared with the typical range we use in our EV charger installation cost calculator: $700–$1,200 for a NEMA 14-50 outlet and $1,100–$1,900 for a hardwired charger with the panel within about 25 feet, plus wire per extra foot, a permit of $25–$800, and panel work when the quote includes it. Labor-based items are adjusted for your area with the local electrician wage from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
A price counts as normal when it is within the range or close to its edges (15% either side), because published ranges are rounded and every home is different.
If a line is high
- Ask for an itemized quote: labor, wire and conduit, breaker, permit and any patching.
- Ask what makes your job different: a long or outdoor run, trenching to a detached garage, a full panel, or code fixes the inspector may require.
- Get a second written quote for the same scope before you decide.
If a line is low
- Check that the permit and inspection are included; a quote without them can cost more later.
- Confirm the electrician's license on your state's official lookup.
- Make sure the wire, breaker and outlet or charger connection match the charger's amperage.
The checker gives planning information, not a price guarantee or an opinion about any electrician. Only an electrician who sees your home can price the job. Panel work is explained in electrical panel upgrade cost.
